Vinted Members Share Frustration About Size Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Response

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Service Background

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
