Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.

Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.

The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.

His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.

The Japanese spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.

The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.

Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.

Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.

The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
